Western District of Pennsylvania Judge Joy Flowers Conti on Philips CPAP MDL

Philips Respironics CPAP lawsuits have been reviewed by the United States Judicial Panel on Multi-District Litigation (JPML).  Upon due consideration, the JPML selected the Western District of Pennsylvania (WDP) as the venue in which Philips Respironics CPAP & Bi-PAP injury claims would be heard by the federal court system.

The Western District of Pennsylvania is part of the 3rd Circuit of the U.S. court system, and appeals are heard by the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals.

Consolidation of a multitude of Philips Respironics CPAP lawsuits was done in accordance with 28 U.S.C. § 1407.  Newly filed cases are expected to likewise be transferred to the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Judge Joy Flowers Conti Presides Over Philips Respironics CPAP Litigation

Western District of Pennsylvania Judge Joy Flowers Conti has been selected by the Judicial Panel on Multi-district litigation to oversee nationwide Philips Respironics CPAP litigation.

Judge Joy Flowers Conti was born in Kane, Pennsylvania. She attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before obtaining her law degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.  She began her career clerking for the esteemed Judge Louis Rosenberg of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, PA.

Judge Conti was appointed to the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania by President George W. Bush in 2002.
